I was at a conference recently were there was a lot of talk about making money with search engines.
It somewhat felt like 1998 when porn-scammers made fortunes by spamming AltaVista and Google.
Recently there seems to be a renaissance of ’search-spam’ which is a little more sophisticated than it used to be.
Sites create valuable content in order to be indexed and ranked in (mostly) Google. Another interesting development is that these SEOs are not just focusing on the big words, for example “cheap inkjet” – the pages they create are very specify to one product. I guess one visitor from thousands of sites per day is as good as thousands from one page.
