Offer free email with your Domain using Gmail (for free… )

Google offers any organisation (schools, companies, non-profits - really anyone) to use the Gmail interface with their own domain.
In my opinion, this is a total no-brainer for any organisation.

Why?
** think of your customers (or users):
1. your users want it! Gmail is (in my opinion) the most innovative approach to email in some time.
2. your users benefit from the ongoing product development.  Just last night, the Google Calendar was integrated. Google Talk is already build in the functionality.
3. If your users don’t like the Gmail interface, they can still use a POP account.

** think of your business
4. having your domain name in hundreds (even thousands) of emails is going to help your viral marketing.  People ask “what is that domain” or just go and check it out.
This is especially true for lifestyle domains such as fightcancer.org, ironman.com, treehugger.com, gizmodo.com or daddytypes.com where users can associate with a trend or lifestyle choice.
5. stop wasting resources on servers and system administration. Google does all of that.

But maybe most importantly, if you don’t offer a great email experience, your users are likely to go to Yahoo, Hotmail or Gmail directly.

As I said before, I drank the cool-aid a few years back, but still, just looking at it objectively, why would not every school, every non-profit, ANY organisation take advantage of this offer.

Oh, did I mention that it is free ……
